Later, Zimbabwe led a vivacious bowling attack by dismissing four Sri Lanka batters cheaply. Pathum Nissanka (2), Kusal Mendis (17), Kusal Perera (17), and Sadeera Samarawickrama (9) got out soon.
At one stage, the hosts railed at 83-6 on the scoreboard in 14 overs. However, all-rounders Angelo Mathews (46) and Dasun Shanaka (26) slammed crucial knocks to help the team reach the target.

Zimbabwe, led by Sikandar Raza, failed to win the opening T20I. However, they gave a tough challenge to the hosts. Sikandar Raza has been the most successful player for the team. He scored a half-century in the 1st T20I and also hunted 3 wickets.
Richard Ngarava (1 wicket), Wellington Masakadza (1 wicket), and Blessing Muzarabani (2 wickets) also lent superb support in the bowling department. However, Zimbabwe batters have to pull their socks up in the next match and come up with a better show.
