After ripping off Australia in Brisbane, West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph has earned a reward for his performance and now will feature for the Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League season nine. Shamar Joseph picked up a nine-wicket haul in the second Test match against Australia in Brisbane and wrote the script of West Indies’ famous win by eight runs. West Indies were able to level the two-match series by 1-1.
Shamar Joseph has replaced England pacer Gus Atkinson through the replacement draft for the partial season, but he is expected to stay with the side for the entire season, as per ESPNCricinfo. Before Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi posted the franchise without a name with the number 13 on the back. Joseph picked up 13 wickets in his debut Test series against Australia, which is a tribute to his performance. Joseph will also be playing for the Dubai Capitals in the ongoing ILT20 2024.

Apart from Shamar Joseph, Peshawar Zalmi has announced Waqar Salamkheil as the replacement for Lungi Ngidi, whereas, Gus Atkinson will replace Noor Ahmad who will be out of the tournament due to his international commitments. Khurram Shahzad who will be partially available for the PSL 9 has been replaced by Arshad Iqbal. Zalmi have also reserved their pick for Naveen-ul-Haq.
During the replacement draft which was held on Monday, many other franchises added supplementary and replacement players to their side.
Karachi Kings all-rounder Kieron Pollard who will be available for the partial part of the PSL 9 has been replaced by Zahid Mehmood whereas Kings have reserved the replacement of Tim Seifert. Lahore Qalandars on the other hand have reserved both their replacements of Rashid Khan and Dan Lawrance. Bilmillah Khan is set to replace Wanindu Hasaranga in Quetta Gladiators.

Peshawar Zalmi have also included Luke Wood and Sufyan Muqeem as their 3rd and 4th pick and Islamabad United have picked Haider Ali and Obed McCoy as their supplementary players. Multan Sultans have added Mohammad Shehzad and Johnson Charles as their supplementary players in the third and the fourth rounds whereas Quetta Gladiators have picked Laurie Evans as their 3rd pick whereas they have reserved their 4th pick. Karachi Kings picked up Leus Du Plooy and Mohammad Rohid as their supplementary players.
The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League is all set to start from February 17 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, whereas the tournament will conclude on March 18 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Six teams including, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and Quetta Gladiators will once again be part of the tournament and will lock horns with each other in a total of 34 games.
The tournament will be held in four cities including Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Karachi will host a total of 11 games, which will be include the playoffs and the final.
