Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni opened up about how he brings the best out of struggling players, who join his team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He didn’t reveal his mantra, claiming that if he did that no one would hire him.
MS Dhoni has arguably been one of the best skippers in the Indian Premier League. The keeper-batter has guided Chennai Super Kings to five titles in the league and is the joint most successful skipper in the league with Rohit Sharma.
The former Indian skipper has been one of the main reasons why Chennai Super Kings are rated highly in the league. MS Dhoni has made sure that the team qualifies for the playoffs in most of the seasons.
Apart from his brilliant leadership skills, what has been the highlight of his captaincy is how he has nurtured his players. Even the players who have struggled to get going have found their mojo under MS Dhoni and have shined staggeringly well.
The prime examples in this regard have been the likes of Shane Watson, Ajinkya Rahane, Robin Uthappa, and others. Before joining CSK, the players were struggling to get going. But the guidance of MS Dhoni changed their careers and turned into complete beasts altogether.
During an interaction, MS Dhoni was asked about why players under him play well in Chennai Super Kings. Replying to this, keeper-batter cited the example of big cola companies, saying that they don’t give their recipe to the public. During an interaction with Single.ID, he commented:
Question: “How can everybody come to CSK and play well from Shane Watson to Ajinkya Rahane?
MS Dhoni said: “If I say it openly then nobody would hire me, so I need to keep it a secret like all the big cola companies, they don’t give their recipe out in the public”.

That is the time or day my parents decided – MS Dhoni on why he opted No.7 jersey
MS Dhoni was also asked about the origin of his iconic jersey number 7. Replying to this, he gave a witty reply stating that he was born in the month of July and it was easy for him to pick the number. He stated:
“That is the time or day my parents decided I would come on earth. So, I was born on the 7th of July. So July again the seventh month. 81 was the year so 8-1 = 7. So it was very easy for me to go out there when they asked me, ‘okay, what number do you want’.”
MS Dhoni has started his preparations for the upcoming edition of the IPL 2024. The keeper-batter most likely will be playing his last edition in the league and would be hoping to end his career on high. His side will be heading into the tournament as the defending Champions. He would be hoping to defend the title and claim his 6th Trophy.
