MS Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL title on Monday, April 29. The final that started on May 28 ended at about 1.30 am on Tuesday with CSK bagging their fifth IPL title. There was no shortage of drama in the final as well which swung both ways before CSK were the eventual winners.

Gujarat Titans scored 214/4 after CSK won the toss and opted to bat first. Wriddhiman Saha scored 54 off 39 balls along with Shbman Gill’s 30 off 20. The opening pair added 67 for the first wicket and laid the perfect platform. The GT innings was about Sai Sudharshan‘s 96 off 47 balls. The youngster stood up in the big final.

Rain played spoilsport in the mid-innings break as CSK’s target was revised to 171 in 15 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad (26) and Devon Conway (47) added 74 for the first wicket. Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 13) and Ambati Ratudy (19 off 8) played key cameos to take CSK closer to the target.

MS Dhoni playing his 250th IPL game was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Mohit Sharma. The pacer was asked to bowl the final over needing to defend 15. He did very well for the first four balls but Ravinda Jadeja kept his cool to hit a six and a four off the final two balls to win the game for the Super Kings and hand them the fifth IPL title.

Wild celebrations began in the CSK camp as soon as Jadeja hit the winning runs. The cameras panned towards the CSK dugout capturing the moments with the players going wild after the win. In between all that. MS Dhoni was seen sitting on his chair. He walked out to hug Jadeja after he came back winning the match for his side.

MS Dhoni Gets Emotional After CSK’s Fifth IPL Title Win

 

 

He gave him a tight hug and lifted him up rubbishing all rumors regarding his differences with Jadeja, news that made all the noise in the last few days.

MS Dhoni scored just 104 runs at a strike rate of 182.46 across the tournament but it was yet again his leadership skills that helped CSK win their fifth IPL title. He hinted about a possible comeback in his post-match interaction.

“I realized I want to enjoy this. It was the same thing in Chennai, it was my last game over there but it will be good to come back and play whatever I can” Dhoni said after the match.
