Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav opened up about his viral shot over the third man for a six during the game against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that he played those shots many times in his mind.
Suryakumar Yadav was at his exceptional best during MI’s last encounter against GT a the Wankhede Stadium. The batter slammed his maiden ton in the league helping his side win the game and make their case strong for the playoffs.

Suryakumar Yadav played a swashbuckling knock of unbeaten 103 runs that helped MI post a total of 218 runs on the board. He batted with a strike rate of 210.2 and smashed 11 fours and 6 sixes in his innings.

One of the highlights of his innings was the attempted lofted cover drive but it wasn’t the lofted drive as his brilliance saw him guiding the ball towards the third man. And it wasn’t any inexperienced bowler, he smashed that shot on the ball off Mohammed Shami.

The shot many made go so berserk and even the batting great Sachin Tendulkar, who was in the dressing room, couldn’t believe how he placed that. Sachin was seen emulating Suryakumar Yadav’s shot and then after the game lauded the batter for that hit on his Twitter account.
However, now Suryakumar Yadav opened up about that shot. He said that he was ready for that shot and he has played that against him even before. Speaking to JioCinema ahead of the start of MI against LSG, he said:
“I have played that shot many times in my mind already. I always try to play the field. At that moment, the ball was wet and they had little options in hand…I knew that they would go for that yorker length and I was ready for that because I have played against him before. I have actually played this shot before as well, but not that fine. It went towards the point region.”
