ToggleZimbabwe and Ireland face off against each other in a ZIM vs IRE three-match T20I series. The first T20I will be played on December 7 in Harare. The T20I series is followed by a three-match ODI series.
Zimbabwe will be led by Sikandar Raza with Craig Ervine returning to the side after playing the first game in the Africa Qualifier, due to a groin injury. Regular veterans Sean Williams, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, and Ryan Burl are part of the side as well.
Zimbabwe’s failure to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2024 was a huge blip in their recent cricketing history. They were beaten by Uganda in the Africa Region Qualifier. The next T20 World Cup in 2024 is a 20-team event and Zimbabwe has failed to get an entry.
Ireland, on the other hand, have ensured qualification for the T20 World Cup next year besides teams like Canada, Nepal, USA, and Uganda. They will be led by Paul Stirling who took over white-ball captaincy from Andrew Balbirnie.
With senior players back in the side, skipper Sikandar Raza has a perfect opportunity to beat the Irish at home. This series is expected to be a closely contested one with specialist T20 players on both sides.
