Afghanistan crushed Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI by 60 runs. Opting to bat first, Afghanistan posted 294-8 in the match. Ibrahim Zadran (106) slammed a marvelous century while Rahmat Shah (52) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (53) scored half-centuries.

Later, opener Pathum Nissanka slammed 85 runs for the team. Wanindu Hasaranga slammed a superb knock of 66 runs. However, the rest of the batsmen could not hit big knocks. In the end, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 234 and lost the match by 60 runs.

In SL vs AFG 2nd ODI, Afghanistan opted to bat first. The visitors were bowled out for 228 in the 1st innings, with half-centuries by Rahmanullah Gurbaz (68) and Rahmat Shah (58). Mohammad Nabi also added 41 runs. After Sri Lanka reached 10-0 in the 2nd innings, the match was affected by rains and ended with no result.
