Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad achieved a massive feat in the T20s. He surpassed Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to become the fastest Indian to score 4000 T20 runs in terms of innings.
Ruturaj Gaikwad achieved the feat in the ongoing 4th T20I against Australia at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. The batter has continued his rich vain of form in the fourth game and is keeping his side in the hunt. He scored a century in the last game and is batting like a dream in Raipur.
India were asked to bat first and they lost early wickets and were tottering at 63/3. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad held the one end and bailed the team out of trouble. The batter played some glorious shots and made sure that his team kept the run rate in check.
Ruturaj Gaikwad along with Rinku Singh added 48 runs for the partnership and put Australia under immense pressure. The batter was looking set for another big knock but his stay at the crease was cut short by Tanveer Sangha as he bagged a soft dismissal.
Tanveer Sangha bowled a flighted delivery on off stump. Ruturaj Gaikwad backed away to play the inside-out loft but the ball just gripped a little. It took the outer half of the bat and balloons towards the short third.
Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 32 runs off 28 balls. He batted with a strike rate of 114.29 and also smashed 3 fours and 1 six in his innings. His valiant knock helped India go past 110 runs. The onus will now be on Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma to take the team to a big total.
