Relay or juggling catches near the boundary ropes have become quite normal in cricket nowadays. The advent of T20 cricket has taken the fielding standards of the players to a new level.
But even by those lofty standards, the relay catch completed by Jordan Cox and Alex Hales on Tuesday (February 20) is simply outstanding. The duo took the catch during the match between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024 (PSL 2024).
In the 14th over of the Multan Sultans innings, Yasir Khan was facing left-arm spinner Imad Wasim. The right-handed batsman was batting on 8 off 10 balls and decided to play the big shot. On the second ball of the over, he went for a slog sweep. While Khan could not make good contact with the ball and ended up top-edging, the ball still looked set to sail over the boundary.
However, Jordan Cox was not ready to give up yet. He ran across to his left from deep mid-wicket and caught the ball with both hands while running. As the momentum was taking him over the boundary ropes, he smartly threw the ball inside the field of play where Alex Hales came running in from long-on and caught the ball.

Multan Sultans beat Islamabad United:
Talking about the game, Multan Sultans beat Islamabad United by five wickets to register their second win in as many games as PSL 2024. On the other hand, Islamabad now have one win and one loss in the tournament.
Asked to bat first, Islamabad were bowled out for a modest 144. Openers Colin Munro (8) and Alex Hales (2) failed to get going before Agha Salman (52) and Cox (41) steadied the ship. However, the Islamabad-based outfit failed to finish their innings strongly and ended up on 144. For Sultans, Mohammad Ali and Abbas Afridi picked up three wickets each.
With the bat, the Sultans chased down the total with just one ball remaining. Reeza Hendricks led the charge with the bat for his team, scoring 58 while captain Mohammad Rizwan also played a crucial knock of 43 runs.
