India allrounder Shivam Dube is reportedly set to miss the remainder of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season after suffering a side strain. The fast-bowling allrounder has played five of Mumbai’s seven league games in the Ranji season so far. He played in the season-opener against Bihar, scoring 41 runs in addition to taking 6 wickets as Mumbai won the game by an innings and 51 runs.
Shivam Dube missed the second game against Andhra due to the T20I series against Afghanistan before joining the Mumbai squad for their game against Kerala. In that game, he scored 52 runs and picked up one wicket, helping his team win the game by 232 runs. In the following game against Uttar Pradesh, the 30-year-old scored a century in addition to picking up three wickets.
It was followed by a half-century against Bengal before he was rested for the clash against Chhattisgarh. The star allrounder returned for the game against Assam and played a brilliant knock of 121 not out, helping his side register another innings victory. Overall, he has scored 407 runs and picked up 12 wickets in 5 games so far,
Shivam Dube doubtful for knockouts:
While Mumbai would have wanted Shivam Dube at his best for the knockout stages of the Ranji Trophy, the in-form allrounder is set to miss the forthcoming games due to a side strain. As per reports, the Mumbai star has a grade-one tear. With the IPL and the T20 World Cup not very far away, he is unlikely to take any risk. He is likely to be replaced by Musheer Khan in the Mumbai squad.
“Dube has a bilateral side strain injury and is likely to be out of the rest of the Ranji Trophy season. He suffered the injury while batting during the last match against Assam (he scored 121 not out), and didn’t come out to field in Assam’s second innings at BKC. He has a grade-one tear. Musheer Khan is likely to be his replacement,” a source told the Times of India.
Shivam Dube has done well in recent IPL seasons and recently impressed Afghanistan as well. He is expected to be a part of the Indian squad for this year’s T20 World Cup. He will be desperate to regain his full fitness ahead of IPL and perform well to strengthen his case for the World Cup.
