Mitchell Starc was secured by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for RS 24.75 crore. Starc is versatile enough to bowl in all phases of the innings. Despite not featuring in the IPL for years and facing challenges in T20Is, the pacer became the most expensive player in IPL history.

In a video shared by cricket.com.au on X (formerly known as Twitter), Alex Carey recounted a recent encounter with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc after their successful auction. Carey acknowledged them as among the best in the world at this level.

“We caught up with them about 15 minutes ago, and they both had their pants down around the ankles; their pockets were full. Those guys won’t change. They’re playing cricket; they’re loving. Good on them. Well, I think standing behind the stumps to them the best in the world at this level,” Carey said.

Let My Son Pick Up The Ball Rather Than The Bat – Alex Carey

Alex Carey acknowledged the remarkable performances of Tavis Head and Spencer Johnson. The left-handed batter humorously mentioned considering letting his son, Louie, focus on bowling instead of batting, inspired by the success of pacers in the IPL auction.

“Travis as well is pretty amazing. (His) last couple of months. And Spencer Johnson’s the other one. It’s amazing for a guy who I’ve seen, find it pretty tough to get on the park for a number of years (and) to come out and show his skill around the world, and now, I guess get rewarded. But I might let Louie (Alex’s son) pick up the ball rather than the bat and start bowling at me,” he added.

Spencer Johnson emerged as a surprise package in the IPL auction by securing a lucrative deal worth Rs 10 crore. The 28-year-old has played 20 T20 games, claiming 17 wickets at an average of 30.23 and an economy rate of 7.84, with a best bowling performance of 3/1.

Australia Announce 13-Member Squad For Second Test

Australia recently announced their 13-player squad for the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan. Lance Morris has been excluded from the squad as he is set to participate in the BBL 2023-24. The team might maintain the same winning combination in the next game.
