PBKS (Punjab Kings) clarified the confusion surrounding Shashank Singh’s purchase at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. The Kings expressed delight in having Shashank Singh on board, emphasizing that he was always on their target list during the auction.

The PBKS acquired Shashank Singh for his base price of Rs 20 lakh at the auction in Dubai. However, controversy arose as it seemed that the franchise raised the paddle for the wrong player. Despite the confusion, Shashank was sold to PBKS as no other franchise bid for him.

Amid confusion at the IPL 2024 auction, auctioneer Mallik Sagar inquired about the Punjab Kings’ intention regarding the purchase of Shashank Singh. The confusion arose as there were two Indian cricketers with the same name on the list.

“It was a wrong name? You don’t want the player?” asked Mallika. “We are talking about Shashank Singh. But the hammer has come down. Player No. 236 and 237 both went to you. I think the hammer has come down for 237 (Shashank) as well,” she said.
