Mumbai Indians have been a game-changer for Rohit Sharma in his cricketing career. Rohit was groomed as a captain while leading MI and won five IPL trophies with them. It was the reason, Rohit was named as the Indian team’s skipper in 2021, after Virat Kohli, and has led the team to two ICC finals and one semi-final. This includes the World Test Championship, the 2023 ODI World Cup, and the 2022 T20 World Cup.
However, Hardik Pandya has evolved differently as a player since he has been leading Gujarat Titans. Pandya won the IPL title while leading GT in 2022 and played the final in the very next edition. Hardik has also been leading the Indian T20I side in the absence of Rohit Sharma and is seen as the next Indian captain after Rohit Sharma.
Hardik Pandya has also changed a player and has brought in his best game. The all-rounder has been contributing with both bat and ball. Hardik took important wickets for India during the 2023 ODI World Cup, though he got injured in the middle of the tournament.
With Hardik Pandya leading the Mumbai Indians and the experience of Rohit Sharma, the ‘Men in Blue and Gold’ are a different team altogether. Pandya will have the onus to help the team win the IPL title again after 2020.
Mumbai Indians have put up an abysmal show in the last few editions of the IPL and finished at the bottom in 2022. MI is the most successful IPL team along with the Chennai Super Kings and with the kind of squad they have ahead of the IPL 17, they can win their sixth title.
