The ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) has already started garnering attention for all the wrong reasons as several individuals have been instructed to stay away from four suspicious individuals. They have already been shown the images of the suspicious individuals as the tournament has already started garnering news related to match-fixing.
According to a report in Cricket Pakistan, one of the four individuals is a former Pakistan regional cricket coach two are Indians and one is Bangladeshi. The individuals associated with the PSL franchises have been reportedly instructed to avoid any contact with the suspicious individuals. They have also been instructed to immediately approach the anti-corruption officials to report any suspicious activities.
The report further stated that the team hotel has not been fully booked by PCB. As a result, there is no restriction on the regular movement of people although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken several measures to prevent bookies disguised as fans from meeting the players.
The players have been instructed to report to the officials if they receive any gift exceeding 25,000 rupees. Players have also been barred from ordering food from outside the team hotel. In 2017, the PSL was rocked by a match-fixing scandal which eventually led to the suspension of Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Irfan, and Shahzaib Hasan.
