Perth is all set to host the AUS vs WI 3rd T20I on February 13. The match starts at 1.30 pm IST. Australia have already won the series by winning the first two Test matches and is looking for a clean sweep.
Glenn Maxwell’s record fifth T20I ton became the headlines after Australia’s second T20I win. He overtook Rohit Sharma’s tally of four T20I centuries and surpassed him in the second T20I. All the Windies bowlers had an economy of over 10 runs per over courtesy of Glenn Maxwell’s brute force.
West Indies in their chase, reached as far as 207/9. Skipper Rovman Powell top-scored with 63. Andre Russell (37) and Jason Holder (16) batted way below than their liking as they did not get enough deliveries to make a match interesting.
This was after their top order did not contribute substantially to the chase. Johnson Charles (24) and Nicholas Pooran (18) did not last long.
Australia will be led by Mitchell Marsh. He will replace Pat Cummins who is rested for the series. Mitchell Starc is also rested from the series. Josh Hazlewood is back for the T20I series after resting from the third ODI.
Australia will miss Matthew Short. He is ruled out with a hamstring injury. The Aussies will also miss Nathan Ellis who is out with an injured rib cage. The management has named Spencer Johnson as his replacement.
West Indies will be led by Rovman Powell. The squad sees the return of specialist players like Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran who were busy playing in the ILT20 league.
Despite the return of their T20 specialists, the team could not turn up for the series. The T20I series was expected to be a much closer contest after the ODI series lost, but the visitors have been completely outplayed.

The two teams have played 146 ODIs with the Aussies winning 79 matches and West Indies 61. In 21 T20Is, Australia have won 11 games while West Indies 10. In 120 Test matches between the two sides, Australia have won 61 matches and West Indies 33.
The series was seen as a dress rehearsal for both teams for the T20 World Cup 2024 of which the Windies are one of the co-hosts. The way the series went so far, only one team benefitted from it. The Windies have won the tournament twice while Australia once in 2021.
