The 5th and final T20I of the five-match series between Suryakumar Yadav-led India National Cricket Team and Matthew Wade-led Australia National Cricket Team was held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, December 3.

The match between the teams was a dead rubber as India were heading into the game with an unassailable lead of 3-1. The Men In Blue won the first two matches by 2 wickets and 44 runs, before losing the third T20I by 5 wickets. They bounced back strong in the next game and won it by 20 runs to clinch the series.

Meanwhile, Australia won the toss in the match and opted to bowl first. They made one change to their playing XI as Nathan Ellis replaced Chris Green. India also made the sole change as Deepak Chahar, who went back home due to a medical emergency, was replaced by Arshdeep Singh.

The opening batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad tried to provide India with a good start, but they were able to add just 33 runs together. After the dismissal of openers, India lost quick wickets and were reduced to 4-55.

Despite the loss of early wickets, Jitesh Sharma played with an attacking mindset and added a brilliant 42-run partnership in 24 balls with Shreyas Iyer.

After that, Axar Patel played a fantastic knock of 31 runs off 21 balls to provide stability to the Indian batting unit. However, the top performer for the side was Shreyas Iyer, who scored 53 runs off 37 balls, with 5 fours and 2 sixes. In the end, India posted a good total of 160/8 on the board.

Chasing the target, Travis Head, who has troubled India a lot, once again looked threatening with the bat. However, before he did much damage, the young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi dismissed him.

After the dismissal of Head, Ben McDermott took the responsibility and he showcased a batting masterclass. He hit a brilliant 54 runs and stitched together crucial partnerships with Tim David and Matthew Short.

In the end, Australia came very close to winning as they needed just 10 runs off 6 balls in the last over and Matthew Wade was on the strike. Arshdeep Singh, who gave away 37 runs in his first three overs, came to bowl the last over and showed great character.

Arshdeep Singh bowled two dot balls to Wade before dismissing the batter on the third ball for 22 runs. In the next three balls, he gave away just 3 runs and helped India win a thrilling match by 6 runs to finish the series with a dominant 4-1 win.
