ToggleThe International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the nominees for ICC Player of the Month for January 2024. No Indian player was picked on the list. Shamar Joseph was one of the players who was picked on the list by the ICC.
The other two players who grabbed a place in ICC Player of the Month (January) nominees are Ollie Pope and Josh Hazlewood. West Indies seamer Shamar Joseph got a place after his five-wicket hauls in both Tests against Australia recently.
Ollie Pope grabbed a spot on the back of his recent century against India in 1st Test last month. On the other hand, Josh Hazlewood earned a spot following his match-winning spells in the Test series against Pakistan and West Indies.

Shamar Joseph won the Player of the Series award in the AUS vs WI series
Shamar Joseph became a worldwide name after he led the West Indies to a historic victory in Tests against Australia. The right-arm seamer hunted 7 wickets for 68 runs in the 2nd innings of the AUS vs WI 2nd Test at The Gabba, driving the team to an 8-run victory in the match.
Earlier, he also picked a five-wicket haul in the AUS vs WI 1st Test. As a result, Shamar Joseph clinched the player of the series award for hunting 13 wickets in the two-match Test series against Australia.
Ollie Pope led England to victory in IND vs ENG 1st Test
England batter Ollie Pope stormed a 196-run knock against India in IND vs ENG 1st Test. With his amazing knock, Pope powered England to a fascinating victory in the match. Notably, England trailed by 190 runs in the 1st innings. However, Pope helped the team to eventually win the encounter by 28 runs.
Josh Hazlewood picked 14 wickets in AUS vs WI Test series
Josh Hazlewood earned a place in ICC Player of the Month for January after driving Australia to a 3-0 clean sweep against Pakistan in a Test series. He also bowled outstanding spells against West Indies in the Test series.
The right-arm pacer hunted a 4-wicket haul in the 3rd Test against Pakistan. He later grabbed another 4-wicket haul and 5-wicket haul against West Indies in 1st Test. His spells helped the Aussies to outplay the visitors by 10 wickets in the opening game.
In total, Josh Hazlewood hampered 14 wickets in the two-match Test series against West Indies. However, West Indies debutant Shamar Joseph won the Player of the Series award for his 13 wickets in the series.

Meanwhile, no India player could grab a place in ICC Player of the Month for January 2024. Shivam Dube slammed 2 half-centuries in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January 2024. He also won the Player of the Series award. However, he was not selected for the list.
Notably, Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed a double ton in the recent IND vs ENG 2nd Test. However, since the match took place in February, Jaiswal might be picked in the ICC Player of the Month for February later.
