Seddon Park in Hamilton will host the NZ vs SA second Test from February 13-17. The match starts at 3 am IST. New Zealand are leading the series 1-0 after the first Test win.
New Zealand won the first Test by 281 runs. They scored 511 in the first innings with Kane Williamson scoring 118 and Rachin Ravindra 240. The Proteas in their first innings were bowled out for 162. The Kiwis opted to bat a second time scoring 179/4 with Williamson scoring 109 off 132 balls.
The Proteas were asked to chase down 529 to win and were bowled out for 247. Kyle Jamieson picked up four wickets in the second innings while Mitchell Santner three. The win has taken the Kiwis to the top of the WTC points table. The Proteas are languishing at seventh on the table.
New Zealand have announced their squad for the second Test. Tim Southee leads them with a full-strength squad available for selection. The batting form of Williamson and Ravindra gives good signs for the Kiwis to go all out in the second Test as well. They have a well-rounded bowling attack with Southee, Wagner, Kyle Jamieson, and Mitchell Santner. Middle-Order batter Daryl Mitchell was ruled out of the second Test with a foot injury. He is set to miss the Australia T20I series as well.
New Zealand and South Africa have played 48 Test matches with the Proteas winning 26 Test matches and the Kiwis just six. In New Zealand in 23 Test matches, NZ won three and SA nine. South Africa have a 9-3 lead in Test matches against the Blackcaps in New Zealand. The Proteas have been one of the few sides to dominate the Kiwis on their home soil. 11 Test matches have ended in a draw in New Zealand.

South Africa have emerged victorious in two of their last five Test matches against New Zealand. The last Test between the two sides ended in the Proteas’ favor by a big margin of 198 runs. The match happened in February 2022, with Sarel Erwee guiding the visitors to a win courtesy of his century.
South Africa have named a second-string side for the two-match Test match. The senior players opted out as they had to play the SA20. Cricket South Africa specified the importance of the availability of the senior players in the league. They also spoke about how the SA20 helps drive the revenue for the country’s cricketing expenses. As many as seven uncapped players were named in South Africa’s squad for the two-match series before the first Test.
