ToggleNew Zealand takes on Pakistan in the fourth T20I in Christchurch on Friday, January 19. The Kiwis have already won the series winning back-to-back games. They are now looking for their fourth straight win.
New Zealand lagged in the number of T20I wins against Pakistan heading into this series but now has more than made up for it. The three back-to-back wins have now taken them to 16 wins in 37 T20I matches against Pakistan.
They won the first T20I by 46 runs and the second by 21 runs. They won the third by 45 runs. The Black Caps posted a formidable total of 224/7 in 20 overs in Dunedin on Wednesday, January 17. Finn Allen scored 137 runs off 62 deliveries, including five boundaries and 16 sixes. In response, the New Zealand bowlers restricted the opposition to a score of 179/7.
Kane Williamson was ruled out of the remaining series with a hamstring injury. Tim Seifert replaced him in the XI but the third t20I was all about Finn Allenn’s magnificent knock. He hit 16 sixes in his innings equalling Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai’s record against Ireland in 2019.

The side is struggling with injury concerns missing key players. Kyle Jamieson has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Devon Conway who was rested for the series against Bangladesh is back for the series against Pakistan. Along with him, pacer Matt Henry is also back after recovering from a hamstring injury for the last couple of months.
Heading into the fourth T20I, the management is looking to rotate the bowlers around. Tim Southee is likely to be rested with Ben Sears likely to get another chance. There are talks of Allen being rested as well.

Finn Allen
Allen should continue to open the batting. He is fresh off his maiden t20I ton in the third T20I. The batter has scored 245 runs in the three matches so far at a strike rate of 207.63 with 15 fours and 24 sixes.
Devon Conway
Conway has not scored too many runs in the first three games and can do with a few in this match. He was rested from the Bangladesh series but was recalled for the Pakistan series at home.
Tim Sifert (WK)
Seifert will slot in at three. He scored 31 which was the second-highest scorer by a Kiwi batter in the third T20I. Seifert replaced Kane Williamson in the XI after the latter was ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Daryl Mitchell
Daryl Mitchell will bat at four. The all-rounder has been in good form since the World Cup but missed in the last two games scoring 17 and 8 respectively. Mitchell has scored 1188 runs in 62 T20Is.
Glenn Phillips
Glenn Phillips will slot in at five. He scored 19 which was the third-highest score by a Kiwi batter in the third T20I. Phillips has scored 51 runs in the three matches so far.
Mark Chapman
Chapman will bat at six. He scored 4 and 1 in the last two games and needs to take his chance in the next game. He has not been in good form in this series scoring just 31 runs at an average of 10.33.
Mitchell Santner (C)
Santner will slot in at seven. He has not been very successful with the ball so far having taken just one wicket in the last two games. Santner has now taken 106 wickets from 95 T20Is.
Ben Sears
Ben Sears will replace Tim Southee in the XI. He played the first two games and picked up four wickets at an average of 26.00. The pacer has picked up 13 wickets in 11 T20Is so far. He is yet to play in the other formats for New Zealand.
Lockie Ferguson
Lockie took one for 27 in the third t20I on his return after sitting out the first two games with an Achilles heel injury. He is five short of 50 T20I wickets.
Matt Henry / Adam Milne
Henry will pair up with Ferguson as the two spearheads. Milne is another name that can come into consideration. He has taken more wickets than Henry with six from just two games.
Ish Sodhi
Sodhi concludes the likely playing XI for New Zealand against Pakistan in the fourth T20I. He took one for 38 in the third T20I. So far in the series he has picked up four wickets in three matches.
