South Africa legend Allan Donald was in awe of India pacer Mohammed Siraj’s sensational performance with the ball in the recently concluded Cape Town Test. He believes that a fast bowler is a revelation with the ball and has a great attitude.
India thumped South Africa by 7 wickets to register their first-ever Test win in Cape Town. The main reason behind them scripting the history was none other than pacer Mohammed Siraj, who oozed his class and bowled a spell of ages.
Mohammed Siraj bowled impeccable lines and lengths and made a mockery of the South African batters. India was asked to field first and thanks to Siraj he had an outstanding performance with the ball, not letting batters settle at all.
Mohammed Siraj ran through the South African batting and picked up 6 wickets in no time. He took just 9 overs to wreak the havoc and register his career-best figures. His sensational spell saw India bundling out Africa for just 55 runs.
Mohammed Siraj took 9 wickets in the game and was one of the key architects behind the famous win for India. His spell in the first innings almost sealed the game for India in the first innings.
Allan Donald recalled Mohammed Siraj’s performance in Bangladesh and said that he was elated to see him put the same energy into every ball. The Proteas great added that the fast bowler has tremendous skill and a massive heart and he urged India’s pacer to not change himself. Speaking to Sportstar, he explained:
“Yes, absolutely. I’ve taken great care in watching India bring through some young quicks and the one that has just taken six for 15 (Mohammed Siraj in the first innings of the Cape Town Test) is a revelation. I think when I was in Bangladesh, and when India played a Test series there and in Dhaka, the way he (Siraj) ran in every single ball was good to see.
“I think he’s got such a great attitude. He’s got tremendous skill and a massive heart. We always talk about this white line fever, and this guy for me, just doesn’t take a backward step.”
IND vs SA: Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah are just sublime – Allan Donald
Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah bowled magnificently well in the two-Test series against South Africa. They bowled well in pair and helped India draw the series. If Siraj picked 6 wickets in the first innings, Bumrah bagged 6 scalps in the second essay.
Allan Donald said that Mohammed Siraj’s partnering with Jasprit Bumrah is sublime. He’s sure that more pacers like the duo will emerge from India which is fantastic. He added:
“And I think, partnering up with Jasprit Bumrah, and the two of them are just sublime, absolutely sublime. I know more and more will come through in India. There are many still sitting back home and knocking on the door. It’s fantastic.”
