Pakistan star Naseem Shah has not played a competitive game since September last year. The right-arm pacer’s last appearance in a competitive game came in the Super 4 clash against India in the Asia Cup 2023.
He had to leave the field during the game due to a shoulder injury before scans revealed that the injury was more serious than what was first anticipated. While he was expected to be fit in time for the ODI World Cup, he could not recover. The star bowler was later replaced by Hasan Ali in the Pakistan squad.
The Men in Green missed his services in the World Cup as their bowlers struggled throughout the competition. Pakistan crashed out at the league stage after managing just 4 wins in 9 games. Nasim Shah also missed Pakistan’s tour of Australia and New Zealand. In his absence, Pakistan struggled on both tours as they managed just one T20I victory out of three Tests and 5 T20Is.
Naseem Shah returns:
Naseem Shah has fully recovered and made his much-awaited return to action in a local cricket tournament. He played for Haza Hunters in the ongoing Spartan Premier League. He looked sharp in his comeback game and picked up 2 wickets inside an over.

Naseem Shah will soon return to high-profile cricket when the Pakistan Super League gets underway. The tournament is scheduled to begin on February 17 with the game between defending champions Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United.
The upcoming PSL season will also mark the beginning of a new journey for Naseem Shah in the competition. He will be playing for Islamabad United in PSL 2024. The fast bowler had started his journey in PSL with Quetta Gladiators in 2020 before deciding to part ways with them after spending some frustrating seasons.
In his four years with Quetta Gladiators, he could reach the playoff just once. Naseem Shah also struggled to do well with the franchise, managing 26 wickets in 29 games.
