Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has expressed his admiration for Pakistan star Babar Azam. The legendary batsman came up with the gesture after Babar Azam picked him as his favorite batting partner.
Babar Azam made the revelation while he was interacting with the fans on X. The former Pakistan captain was live on the social media platform where he answered the fans’ questions. One of the fans asked him to name the batsman he would like to bat with. In reply, Babar Azam quickly picked AB de Villiers, calling the South African his dream batting partner.
The Pakistan star did share the field with AB de Villiers but never really got the chance to bat with him. Apart from competing in international cricket, Babar Azam and AB de Villiers played against each other in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well.
AB de Villiers replies to Babar Azam:
Soon after Babar Azam called AB de Villiers his dream batting partner, the South Africa great took to X to reply to the compliment. The former cricketer stated that he too would have liked to bat with Babar Azam, writing:

During the same session, Babar Azam also expressed his admiration for former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as well. The star batsman opened up on how Sarfaraz backed him when he was still finding his feet in international cricket.
“Saifee bhai likes my bats alot and he is always said that it’s my bat and you should choose another one for the match, Saifee bhai always backed us and I am here today because of Sarfaraz Ahmed,” said Babar Azam.
He also stated that winning the World Cup is his biggest dream in life. Babar did have the chance to win the ODI World Cup last year but he failed to do as a captain. Soon after the tournament, he resigned as the captain in all three formats. He has the chance to win the T20 World Cup this year and will be desperate to go all the way.
At present, he is busy plying his trade in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He is playing for Rangpur Riders in the competition. The right-handed batsman has scored 157 runs in four matches in BPL 2024.
