Indian opener Adarsh Singh was the top run scorer of the Indian innings and scored 76 runs from 96 balls. He also hit a total of six fours during his stay at the crease. However, it was not a decent start for the Indian U19 team as they lost opener Arshin Kulkarni for 7 runs and Musheer Khan for 3 runs.
However, Indian Adarsh Singh and Uday Saharan added 116 runs from 144 balls for the 3rd wicket. Priyanshu Moliya and Aravelly Avanish scored 23 runs each whereas Sachin Dhas played an innings of 26 runs from 20 balls.
Maruf Mridha was the star of the show with the ball for the Bangladesh U19 team and picked up a fifer. Mridha ended the innings with figures of 5/43 in 8 overs. Chowdhary Mohammad Rizwan and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby picked up 1 wicket each.
India are the defending champions of the U19 World Cup and also the most successful team in the history of the tournament. However, India lost to Bangladesh in the final of the 2020 U19 World Cup, and after the end of the match, the Bangladeshi players did something unexpected.
After Bangladeshi batsman Rakibul Hasan hit the winning runs to India bowler Sushant Mishra, the players of both sides engaged in a physical fight and it was a shameful end to the tournament. While the reason for the fight was unclear, it started when the Bangladeshi support staff came down running towards the ground after Hasan hit the winning runs.
One of the Indian players went on to take on the Bangladeshi cricketer who had said some allegedly uncharitable stuff to him. The altercation kept on going for almost 50 seconds and the umpires and the support of both teams were not able to separate the players. However, in the end, India’s head coach Paras Mhabrey took the Indian team players back to the dressing room.
India will aim to kickstart their U19 World Cup campaign with a win and also defend their title to keep their dominance in the tournament. The U19 World Cup has produced many great Indian players such as Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and many more.
