Former Australia and Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Michael Hussey has revealed that MS Dhoni has already hit the nets to prepare for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League 2024, which is slated to start from March onwards. Hussey disclosed this precious information while commentating alongside Adam Gilchrist and Mark Howard during the 1st innings of the 2nd of a 3-match T20I series between Australia and West Indies.
MS Dhoni is most likely to feature in his final season of the IPL and it could be his final season donning the wicket-keeping gloves for the Chennai Super Kings. Last year he led the CSK towards their elusive 5th IPL title to place the South Indian franchise along with Mumbai Indians as 2 of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history which began in 2008.
As recent as last week, Dhoni was seen playing with a Prime Sports stickered bat in the nets in what was a short glimpse of Thala getting back to basics ahead of the 10-team tournament. The photo went viral like wildfire and it generated plenty of reactions from fans all across social media platforms.
MS Dhoni has also been involved in a legal case with ex-business partner Mihir Diwakar over a disagreement between them in their contract to open cricket academies around the world. It all started after Dhoni’s legal team filed a fraud case worth over 15 crores against Aarka Sports at the Ranchi High Court.
Diwakar responded by slamming Dhoni with a series of Tweets on X before filing a defamation case against the former India captain at the Delhi High Court. While the matter has died down for a bit as of now, the news of his IPL return is going viral.
Michael Hussey who played for the CSK from 2008 to 2015 and won the IPL in 2010 and 2011 added further excitement by officially revealing that Thala is back in the nets. The conversation was started by Mark Howard when he talked about when Hussey is going to leave for India to serve his coaching role with the CSK.
“Looking forward to the IPL, it is a great tournament, it really is. The best players from all around the world, the best Indian players playing. It is incredible to be a part of it. The crowds are unbelievable, the noise they make, the atmosphere at the grounds,” Hussey said via Fox Sports.

Hussey who last played the IPL in 2015 and went away from the circuit after scoring 1977 runs, assumed that MS Dhoni is hitting the balls in the nets. “Yes, MS Dhoni is back. He’d be hitting the balls in the nets already, I reckon,” Hussey concluded.
Then Adam Gilchrist who became the 2nd Australian after the late Shane Warne to win an IPL title as captain, jumped into the conversation and brought the Prime sticker bat into the light, claiming that MSD would have just wanted to increase the sales of his friend’s sports store.
“Saw him hitting some balls the other day in the nets with a new bat sticker on his bat, just a local sports store of one of his school mate’s. Must have said I’ll whack your company name on my bat to give your store a boost,” Gilchrist said via Fox Sports.
