Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Anuj Rawat shared his experience of playing in IPL 2022 with the Faf du Plessis-led team.
Rawat was paired with the RCB skipper to open the innings in IPL 2022. The Delhi left-handed batter amassed 129 runs in eight innings at an average of 16.13.
Anuj Rawat scored his maiden IPL fifty against Mumbai Indians
Rawat’s only performance that mattered was 47-ball 66 against Mumbai Indians, apart from that, he was dismissed for a duck on three instances. He was dropped from the team after RCB’s eight league fixtures and thereafter Virat Kohli was promoted to open the innings.
I got to know my positive side as well as my negatives: Anuj Rawat
The 22-year-old Delhi player was elated to share the dressing room with the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik in IPL 2022. Rawat also said he learned about the areas that he needs to work on improving.
“Before Royal Challengers Bangalore, I was a part of Rajasthan Royals but I did not get chances there. But while playing for RCB, I got to know my positive side as well as my negatives. I know my negatives now, where I need to work on,” Rawat told news agency ANI.
“These are the legends of the game. I am from the same academy as Virat Kohli. I know his journey. I have seen him when he was playing in Under-19 and where he is now. And talking about Faf du Plessis, Maxi (Glenn Maxwell) and Dinesh Karthik as well, I have learnt a lot of things from them,” he added.
Rawat was bought by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 for INR 80 lakh but got just two matches to play across two seasons. The Delhi player was sold to RCB for INR 3.4 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
RCB made through to IPL 2022 playoffs by dint of Mumbai Indians beating Delhi Capitals in their final group stage fixture. RCB’s title hopes were crushed by the Royals in the Qualifier 2 clash.
