India and Australia play in the ICC World Cup 2024 U19 World Cup final on Sunday, January 11. The match will be played in Willowmoore Park, Benoni from 1.30 pm IST. 

India and Australia have faced each other seven times in U19 World Cup games. The Indian U19 team have won five times while the Australia U19 team has twice. India have been unbeaten against Australia in U19 World Cup matches since 2000. India defeated Australia in the 2012, and 2018 U19 World Cup finals. 

The U19 World Cup final 2024 is seen as a rematch of the 2012 and 2018 World Cup finals. India defeated Australia in both of those games. This match is also seen as a rematch of the ICC World Cup 2023 final where Australia defeated India. 

The young Indian team has a chance to topple the high-flying Australians in the final. They did it twice back in U19 World Cups and can do it the third time. The two teams have won a total of five U19 World Cup titles. Australia last won in 2012 while India are the defending champions of the tournament.

Australia defeated Pakistan to win the second semi-final and book a berth in the U19 World Cup final. Chasing 180 to win, they won the match in the final over. The last batting pair added the final 17 runs with Australia reduced to 164/9 in the 43rd over. Raf MacMillan (19*) and Callum Vidler (2* off 9) added the last 17 runs in a nervy run chase. 

India chasing 245 against South Africa were reduced to 32/4 in the 12th over. Skipper Uday Saharan (81) added a 171-run stand with Sachin Dhas (96) for the fifth wicket to take India closer. Raj Limbani then scored 13 off 4 balls to take India to yet another U19 World Cup final.

India and Australia have maintained an unbeaten run throughout the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 campaign. Australia had a rained-out game against West Indies. India, on the other hand, defeated every team by comfortable margins. They also kept a cool head to chase down the runs in the first semi-final against South Africa. 

Thus the stage is set for the next generation of superstars from India and Australia to leave their imprints in this tournament. This is the first stepping stone to making future superstars and both teams have plenty of superstars in the making implying of the cricketing future of both countries.
