Their bowlers did an outstanding job to make it a big enough target, but all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz took them home in the end with a knock for the ages. That win would have boosted the home side’s confidence tremendously and they would now be hard to stop.
Bangladesh asked India to bat first on a tough wicket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the first ODI. The ball was gripping the surface and Shakib Al Hasan produced a fantastic spell of 5-36 to put India on the back foot with regular wickets. Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain (4-47) further dented the Men in Blue’s chances of posting a formidable total and they were eventually bundled out for 186.

It was all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz (38* off 39 balls) and tailender Mustafizur Rahman (10* off 11 balls) who took them home in an emphatic fashion. The next match will be played at the same venue and Bangladesh are likely to retain the same eleven.

India’s problems in limited-overs cricket continue to rise with every passing game. Their top order has been ineffective for a while now and in the first ODI too, they failed to deliver with Shikhar Dhawan, captain Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli falling cheaply yet again.
KL Rahul top-scored with 73 off 70 balls but didn’t get any support from the other batters. With the top order looking scratchy and out of touch, the onus will once again be on KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer to make the big runs.
India’s bowling was good for the most part in the last game. Defending a small target, the seamers bowled their heart out to keep the opposition batters under constant pressure. Pacer Mohammed Siraj (3-32) was the pick of the lot and he will be the one to watch out for in this 3-match ODI series.
Deepak Chahar started well but was poor at the death and that might prove costly in the other games too. Washington Sundar (2-17) bowled tight lines and lengths but left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed kept leaking runs at the other end. India would be hoping that Axar Patel is available for the second match as he can keep it tight in the middle overs.
India have another injury to deal with and it’s Shardul Thakur. The pacer was in discomfort during his spell in the first ODI. He has a niggle. However, the medical team will check the severity of his condition and take a call on his availability. Umran Malik who has joined the team will be available for selection in the 2nd ODI.
Pacer Shardul Thakur suffered frequent cramps during the 1st ODI in Dhaka despite cold and dry conditions. But it’s a muscle niggle and the team management may not risk him with the 2-match Test series coming up. It should also be noted that Mohammad Shami is unlikely to be fit for the Test series.
Axar Patel suffered a rib injury while practicing. He was not available for selection in 1st ODI. It is unlikely that he will make it for 2nd ODI in Dhaka on Wednesday. But if he is fully fit, he will replace Shahbaz Ahmed.
India Predicted Playing XI:
Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Sen, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik
India vs Bangladesh Match Prediction: Who Will Win Today Match Between India And Bangladesh? 2nd ODI
That memorable nail-biting win in the first ODI would have given Bangladesh some much-needed confidence. They have struggled against India in the past but this is a great opportunity for them to seal another ODI series win against their rivals.
The Men in Blue’s batting is looking out of sorts and their bowling lacks teeth. Bangladesh has enough depth in their batting and their bowling has plenty of variety for these conditions. Unless the visitors bats out of their skin, Bangladesh should fancy their chances of clinching the series in the second ODI.
