North Indian IPL outfit, the Lucknow Super Giants took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the departure of Assistant coach Vijay Dahiya after 2 years of association. Dahiya was a part of the LSG management under the head coach Andy Flower with Gautam Gambhir present at the dugout as mentor of the team.
Since entering IPL in 2022, Lucknow have produced similar types of performances from the last 2 seasons. They entered the league with Gujarat Titans 2 years ago, making the Indian Premier League a 10-team affair, thus making the richest cricketing league even more exciting.
With Gujarat finishing on top of the IPL standings, they eventually went on to win the prestigious title in their maiden campaign by beating season 1 champions Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Lucknow Super Giants on the other hand finished 3rd in the points table, securing a play-off berth in their maiden attempt as well.
However, Lucknow Super Giants in their eliminator match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, lost by 14 runs at the Eden Gardens. Even though they were unable to replicate Gujarat Titans’ performance, the first season of LSG was a major success with KL Rahul as the captain.
In the 2nd season, amid turmoils, LSG yet again were able to finish the league phase in the 3rd spot with 17 points to their name. But history repeated itself and Lucknow lost in their Eliminator match this time against the Mumbai Indians by 81 runs.
The disappointment within the camp after the loss was evident and owner Sanjiv Goenka decided to process a major overhaul in the Lucknow Super Giants management. First, Gautam Gambhir stepped down as the Mentor before joining Kolkata Knight Riders and then Andy Flower was also replaced by former Australia head coach Justin Langer.
And earlier today, Vijay Dahiya also separated from the team after 2 years of service, meaning a new era is on the horizon for LSG.
All the best for your next chapter, @vijdahiya !?? pic.twitter.com/7RhyyOuXnD

Lucknow Super Giants Hoping To Reach IPL Finale With A New Management In Place
Ahead of the IPL 2024 Mini Auction, Lucknow Super Giants hired the services of former T20 World Cup-winning head coach with Australia, Justin Langer. The Aussie was roped in for his splendid time as head coach of the national team.
Langer had joined Australia right after Sandpaper Gate which tarnished the image of the team worldwide. After taking over, he helped the team come over from a turmoil situation, retaining the Ashes Series for the first time in 18 years.
Then in 2021, Australia won their maiden ICC T20 World Cup title in UAE before stepping down in 2022. It was Langer’s extensive work that laid the foundation for the Aussies’ ICC WTC 2023 triumph which was followed by a 6th Cricket World Cup triumph in India in November.
Lucknow Super Giants are yet to announce the entourage of Justin Langer but with new management, hopes of winning the IPL have also been renewed.
