ToggleLucknow Super Giants (LSG) bagged six players in the IPL 2024 auction. The players they added were backups for their potential first-playing XI which looks very solid.
The franchise led by KL Rahul made it to the playoffs in IPL 2022 and IPL 2023 and will look to go the distance this season. This time around there is no Gautam Gambhir as the mentor of the franchise. Justin Langer has replaced him as the head coach ahead of this season.
Lucknow retained the likes of Quinton de Kock, Mark Wood, Kyle Mayers, and Marcus Stoinis, the four foreigners who played a majority of the games last season.
Apart from them, their Indian core of Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Yash Thakur, Amit Mishra, and Ayush Badoni also played a key role in helping the team to make the last four.

Lucknow Super Giants Playing 11 for IPL 2024
Devdutt Padikkal
Padikkal will open the batting for LSG. With KL Rahul likely to bat in the middle order for Lucknow in IPL 2024, the Super Giants did the wise thing by trading a good Indian opener.
Quinton de Kock (WK)
De Kock will open the batting along with Padikkal. Having retired from ODI cricket, he is focused on making it big in T20I cricket and also in T20 leagues. Dekcok scored 508 runs for LSG in IPL 2022.
Deepak Hooda
Hooda will slot in at three. He batted at that number for LSG in the last two seasons and is expected to do the same this season as well. After scoring 451 runs in IPL 2022, Hooda scored just 84 runs in 12 games last season.
KL Rahul (C/WK)
Rahul will bat in a four. He will lead the side and also bat in the middle order as opposed to opening the innings after he started batting in the middle order for India as well. This was a big call by the management.
Nicholas Pooran
Pooran will slot in at five He is the explosive middle-order batter Lucknow can boast off. He scored 358 runs last season for LSG with two fifties at a strike rate of 172.95. He is inching closer to 1500 IPL runs.
Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis will bat at six. He is the specialist all-rounder in the batting order. He has big-hitting power and can also bowl a few useful overs. Stoinis should play regularly in the XI.
Krunal Pandya
Krunal will play at seven. He is another all-rounder in the lineup. Krunal like Stoinis can be aggressive lower down the order and bow a couple of overs. The elder Pandya is no longer getting chances with the national team.
Shivam Mavi
Shivam Mavi will be one of the Indian pacers in the XI. He was added to the side for 6.40 crores in the XI. Mavi was released by Gujarat Titans after just one season allowing LSG to add him up.
Mohsin Khan
Mohsin will be the second Indian pacer in the lineup. He too has impressed one and all with his stint at LSG so far. He picked 14 wickets in his first season while just three in his second season.
Mark Wood
Wood is the overseas specialist pacer in the XI. He has been injury-prone in recent times and has not played consistently in the XI. He picked 11 wickets in four matches before getting ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Ravi Bishnoi
Bishnoi will be the specialist spinner in the playing XI. In the last two seasons, he has been a regular feature in the LSG playing XI ahead of Amit Mishra. Bishnoi was recently the number-one ranked T20I bowler.
Impact Sub: Ayush Badoni
Ayush Badoni can be the super sub for LSG. He was used in the same role by the franchise in the last season. He is used as a floater in the batting order.
