Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik has found himself in the midst of another controversy. The all-rounder, who is playing in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 hogged the headlines with his on-field antics and raised speculations of match-fixing among fans on X. 

During the game between Fortune Barishal and Khulna Tigers on Monday (22nd January) at the Sher-e Bangla Stadium in Dhaka, Shoaib Malik did something that was unusual. Being a spinner, the all-rounder bowled three no-balls, and that too in the same over. 

Shoaib Malik bowled just one over in the game and in that, he made an error. West Indies batted Evin Lewis made sure that he made most of the no balls and slammed the all-rounder for 18 runs in the over, which helped the opposition to gain momentum and win the game. 

Three no-balls from Shoaib Malik allowed Evin Lewis to settle in as he blasted 53 runs off 22 balls that helped his team win the game. Fortune Barishal batted first and added a big total of 187 runs on the board. Mushfiqur Rahim played a blistering innings of unbeaten 68 runs. 

Skipper Tamim Iqbal blasted 40 runs at the top which set the tone for the team. Mahmudullah added crucial runs for the team in the end but couldn’t finish on high. His wicket saw the arrival of Shoaib Malik on the crease but couldn’t make a big impact and he remained unbeaten on 5 runs from 6 balls he faced.

In the chase, apart from Evin Lewis, Anamul Haque (63*) also slammed a vital half-century before Afif Hossain (41) and Shai Hope (25*) played a decent hand to take his team home by the margin of 8 wickets. 

Fans on Twitter slam Shoaib Malik for his three no-balls in the over 

Shoaib Malik’s blunder with the ball in the game between Fortune Barishal and Khulna Tigers became the major talking point of the game. Many even blamed the all-rounder for his poor bowling behind the thrashing loss. Fans on X slammed him for bowling three no-balls in the over and also accused of him match-fixing.
