Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has yet again hogged the headlines for his off-field antics. The all-rounder has found himself in the middle of another controversy and that incident has gone viral on the internet.
Shakib Al Hasan, who contested elections in Bangladesh, was reportedly heading to the voting booth to witness the proceedings. As he was on his way to the booth, a huge crowd came along with him and gathered around him, supporting him.
There was a huge mob around Shakib Al Hasan and one of the fans around him tried to grab his hand. This, however, didn’t go well with the Bangladesh skipper as he wasn’t easy on the fan. The all-rounder turned around and went on to slap him in the face.
The video of the incident went viral on the internet. In the clip, it can be seen Shakib Al Hasan slapping the fan hard as he tries to touch him and grab him. Here’s the video:

Shakib Al Hasan contested the election for Awami League from Magura-1. The all-rounder bagged a thumping win with 185,388 votes to his name. He has been focusing on the election a lot following the World Cup 2023 and his hard work finally paid off.
Shakib Al Hasan often has grabbed the headlines for his behaviour. He often has been seen losing his temper and this was quite evident during many games as well. He was also suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board for yelling at umpires during the Dhaka Premier League.
Decision related to Shakib Al Hasan continuing as captain will be taken soon – Jalal Yunus
Shakib Al Hasan was last seen in the action during the ICC World Cup 2023. He got injured during the fag end of the tournament and then was ruled out. Since then he hasn’t played cricket as he has been nursing the injury and also focusing on the elections.
In the absence of Shakib Al Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto has been captaining the team and the left-hander has done a great job. This has now put the Bangladesh team in the middle of a double-edged sword as to who will lead the team once the all-rounder is back.
BCB director of operations Jalal Yunus spoke about the same and revealed that decisions related to the captaincy of the team will be taken by the board. He also stated that the governing body would sit down with the all-rounder and discuss with him before making any decision. He had stated;
“The final decision as to whether Shakib will continue or Shanto will take over will be taken by the board. But obviously, we will discuss it with him [Shakib] and will try to know his stance regarding this matter. And only after that, we will be able to know who is going to captain the side in the long term.”
Shakib Al Hasan didn’t have a great outing with the bat and ball in the World Cup. The all-rounder scored just 186 runs in 7 innings and managed just one half-century. He also wasn’t at his best with the ball as he bagged just 7 wickets.
