As Ravindra Jadeja starred on the field for Chennai Super Kings in the recently-concluded IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans, his wife Rivaba Jadeja could not control her emotions while cheering for him from the stands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Ravindra Jadeja starred with both bat and ball to help Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets (DLS method) and win a record-equaling 5th IPL title. With the ball, he gave Chennai Super Kings the much-needed first breakthrough by having in-form Shubman Gill stumped for 39 in the 7th over.
With the bat, he hit the winning runs to help Chennai Super Kings register a thrilling last-ball finish. The MS Dhoni-led side were looking destined to lose yet another IPL final before Ravindra Jadeja decided to take matters into his own hands.
Ravindra Jadeja’s heroics make wife Rivaba Jadeja emotional:
Chennai Super Kings’ chances of winning the final looked all but over after Mohit Sharma started the final over in a brilliant fashion. Chasing a revised total of 171 in just 15 overs, Chennai Super Kings needed 13 runs off the final over with Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle.
With Dube struggling to play his usual game, Ravindra Jadeja new at the crease, and Mohit being in good form, the balance was tilted in Gujarat Titans’ favor. Mohit then put the Titans on the verge of a win by conceding only 3 singles in the first 4 balls.
With 10 runs needed off the last 2 balls, it looked all but over for the Super Kings. Jadeja, however, had other plans. The allrounder hit the 5th ball for a six before hitting the final ball for a four to snatch a monumental victory from the jaws of defeat for his side. And as he did the unthinkable on the field, his wife Rivaba Jadeja could not control her emotions.
She was in the stands, cheering for her husband during the title decider. As soon as Jadeja hit the winning runs, the cameras focused on the stands where Rivaba was seen wiping off her tears while sporting a smile.
