West Indies, last played a Test match against South Africa which they lost. South Africa won the first Test by 87 runs and the second Test by 284 runs. Prior to that West Indies won a Test series against Zimbabwe when they won the second Test by an innings and four runs.

West Indies have announced their Test squad for the upcoming series against India. West Indies have inducted two uncapped batsmen Kirk McKenzie and Alick Athanaze, who showed wonderful batting form for West Indies A team earlier. star all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall was also recalled into the squad after almost two years. India and West Indies last played a Test series with each other in August 2019, when India whitewashed the hosts 2-0 in the series.

India have slo named a full-strength squad against West Indies. Rohit Sharma has been retained as captain with Ajinkya Rahane as vice-captain. Virat Kohli is also a part of the side. Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped. The BCCI has named a few youngsters like Rurturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mukesh Kumar.
