Sri Lanka grabs the 10th place in the list of top 10 highest 2nd innings score in Test cricket. In January 2014 in Mirpur, Sri Lanka piled up 730/6 vs home team Bangladesh in 2nd innings. Bangladesh was bowled out for 232 in 1st innings and Sri Lanka replied with a mammoth 730/6. Mahela Jayawardene scored a double-century for Sri Lanka.
9. West Indies- 747/10 vs South Africa (April 2005)
West Indies takes the 9th spot on this list. West Indies posted a mammoth 747/10 against South Africa in April 2005. The drawn match witnessed Chris Gayle (317) smacking triple ton. Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and Dwayne Bravo slammed centuries.
8. West Indies- 749/9 vs England (Feb 2009)
West Indies makes consecutive appearances with teams with the highest-ever totals in 2nd innings in Test Cricket. Against England in February 2009, the Caribbean team piled up 749/9 in 2nd innings with a double ton by Ramnaresh Sarwan (291). Earlier, England piled up 600 in 1st innings. The encounter eventually ended in a draw.
7. Sri Lanka- 756/5 vs South Africa (July 2006)
On the 7th spot on this list, we again have Sri Lanka. In July 2006, Sri Lanka posted 756/5 vs South Africa in a Test match in Colombo. South Africa was bowled out for 169 in 1st innings. Sri Lanka’s gigantic total was led by Kumar Sangakkara’s double century and Mahela Jayawardene’s triple ton. Sri Lanka also grabbed a victory in the match.

6. Australia- 758/8 vs West Indies (June 1955)
With a huge total of 758 vs West Indies in June 1955, Australia holds the record for sixth highest 2nd innings score in Test Cricket. Replying to West Indies’ 357 in 1st innings, the Aussies responded with 758/8 with a double ton by Neil Harvey and centuries from four other batters. Australia also won the clash at Kingston by an innings and 82 runs.
5. India- 759/7 vs England (Dec 2016)
In the 5th place, India grabs a place on this list. India posted 759/7 against England in December 2016. England piled up 477 in 1st innings and India replied with a huge total to win the match by an innings and 75 runs. For India, Karun Nair scored a triple century while KL Rahul shattered 199 runs.
4. Sri Lanka- 760/7 vs India (Nov 2009)
Sri Lanka enters this list for the third time for a mammoth 2nd innings total in Test Cricket during an encounter against India in November 2009. In the match in Ahmedabad, India piled up 426 in 1st innings. Sri Lanka responded with a mountainous 760/7. Since India piled up another 400-plus total in 3rd innings, the encounter ended in a draw.
3. Pakistan- 765/6 vs Sri Lanka (Feb 2009)
The list has entered the top three teams and Pakistan takes the 3rd spot. Pakistan’s 765/6 against Sri Lanka is still the 3rd highest 2nd innings total in Test Cricket. The match took place in February 2009. With a triple century by Younis Khan, Pakistan piled up a gigantic score. Earlier, Sri Lanka posted 644/7 in 1st innings. The Karachi match was drawn later.

2. West Indies- 790/3 vs Pakistan (Feb 1958)
In the 2nd spot, we have West Indies with a 790/3 total against Pakistan in Test Cricket. In the 2nd innings of the 3rd Test in February 1958, West Indies replied with a mammoth 790. It was enough to crush Pakistan in the clash. Garry Sobers (365) and Conrad Hunte (260) slammed impeccable knocks for West Indies.
1. Sri Lanka- 952/6 vs India (Aug 1997)
Sri Lanka tops the list of teams with the highest 2nd innings total in Test Cricket. Sri Lanka shattered 952/6 vs India in August 1997 in the Colombo Test, setting the record books on fire. Earlier, India declared 1st innings at 537/8.
The match observed only two innings before getting drawn. Sanath Jayasuriya (340) shattered a triple ton for Sri Lanka while Roshan Mahanama (225) hit a double century.
