Delhi Capitals Cricket Team (IPL)

Delhi Capitals is an IPL cricket franchise based in Delhi. Founded in 2008, they are jointly owned by the GMR Group and the JSW Sports. Delhi Capitals began as Delhi Daredevils before changing their name in December 2018. They play their home games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi Capitals are one of the three franchises who are playing in the IPL since the first season in 2008 but are yet to win the title.

They are also the last of the eight teams who were founded in 2008 to play an IPL final. Delhi Capitals played their first final in 2020. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is their highest run-scorer while former India spinner Amit Mishra is their highest wicket-taker in the IPL.

Delhi Capitals’ Jersey and logo:

Red and blue have been the primary colours of Delhi Capitals jersey since the inaugural season. The shirt also displays a roaring tiger at the front.

Delhi Capitals’ journey in IPL so far:

In the first two seasons of the IPL, Delhi Capitals made it to the semifinals and failed to advance to the final on both the occasions. In 2010, they finished at the fifth spot before finishing at the 10th spot in the 10-team competition in 2011.

In 2012, the Delhi-based outfit qualified for the final once again but failed to advance ahead. It was followed by six consecutive seasons without any playoffs appearance as they constantly finished in the bottom half of the points table. In 2019, Delhi Capitals finally ended their long wait to make it to the playoffs before advancing to the final in 2020. In 2021 too, they made it to the playoffs. However, in the last two seasons, Delhi Capitals have failed to progress to the playoffs.
