The England National Cricket Team represents England in men’s international cricket. The England Cricket team is administered by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). England is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and plays all the three formats.
England National Cricket Team History:
- The first recorded incidence of a team with a claim to represent England comes from 9 July 1739 when an “All-England” team consisting of players from any part of England exclusive of Kent, played against “the Unconquerable County” of Kent.
- England played the first-ever Test match in cricket in 1877 against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The England cricket team lost the game by 45 runs.
- The fierce Ashes series against Australia began in the 1880s after a loss at home.
- England featured in the first-ever ODI in 1971 when they locked horns against Australia. In 2005, they played their first-ever T20I against Australia.

England have played in all the editions of the World Cup so far. They also hosted the first three editions of the competition and did it again in 1999 and 2019. In the first five editions of the World Cup, they finished runners-up on three occasions. They finally won their first ODI World Cup in 2019 under the captaincy of Eoin Morgan.

England National Cricket Team ICC T20 World Cup record:
England has also played in all the editions of the ICC T20 World Cup so far. After failing to make it to the knockout stages in the first two editions, they won the title in 2010. It was their first-ever ICC trophy. In 2016, they lost the final against West Indies before winning the title in 2022. Apart from the West Indies, the England cricket team is the only team to win the T20 World Cup more than once.
